Bank Accounts are used to record bank transaction. With Bank Account Ledger, transactions will be record in both local currency and foreign currencies.
It is suggested to create separate bank account cards for every currency of each bank account. Which means one bank account card will only store single currency of one bank account.

Steps-by-step guide
To create new Bank Account

Go to Chart of Accounts List than click [New] to create new G/L Account for bank.

e.g.
Create G/L account #2950 for HSBC Current Account (EUR).


These are mandatory fields.

Direct Posting allows user to book entry directly to general ledger. For bank accounts, Direct Posting option needs to be turned off, as all bank transactions need to be record under bank account ledger + general ledger.

Go to Bank Account Posting Groups and create a new code.

Then link the Code with the G/L Account created on step 1.

e.g.
Code: HSBC CA EUR
G/L Account No.: 2950

Go to Bank Accounts then click New to create new bank account card.

These are mandatory fields.

Bank Acc. Posting Group, select the new code created on step 2.
